Where others cost the same or less: Perplexity’s Fast Search lists at $1 per 1,000, and Parallel’s turbo and fast search at $1: the same as our ultra ($1.00, headlines only) and below our fast at $1.40; Parallel’s advanced search, at $5, is below our deep at $5.60. What you get for the difference: our own news index with the publication time and outlet of every result, a calibrated relevance probability, typed answers, tone and same-story grouping in the same call, and news in many languages, deepest in Latin America. Perplexity also bills per request, of up to five queries; we bill each query.

Pricing questions
How does prepaid credit work?
You top up from $20 and every request is deducted at list price. Top-ups from $100 get 5% extra, and from $500, 10%. Purchased credit is valid for 12 months. The monthly plan tops you up on its own, with up to 10% extra.
What counts as a request?
One search query, priced by its mode: $1.00 per 1,000 in ultra, $1.40 in fast, $2.20 in normal, $5.60 in deep. You can batch up to five queries in a single call; each one counts as one search of its mode. Similar and live site search count one per request, and contents are billed per page read.
Do cached results cost anything?
No. An identical request within 10 minutes is served from cache at no charge.
What happens when I hit a cost cap?
We stop before crossing it, return everything judged so far and mark the response as incomplete. You never pay past the cap.
How do your prices compare?
Mode by mode, against list prices checked September 25, 2026. Against Exa: 7× less in ultra ($1.00 against $7), 5× in fast ($1.40), 3.1× in normal ($2.20 against the same $7 search, which already includes page text) and 2.1× in deep ($5.60 against $12–15); contents, 5× less per page. Against Tako, 3.5–7× less. Perplexity’s Fast Search ($1) costs the same as our ultra and less than our fast; its standard Search API ($5) costs 2.2× our normal.
How is a custom index billed?
$2.00 per 1,000 URLs a month, billed daily and prorated from the same prepaid credit; re-reading is included. Searches over the index cost the same as the mode. Pay as you go holds up to 100 URLs in 3 indexes, the monthly credit plan up to 10,000 in 50, and Enterprise has no limit. Without credit an index is paused, not deleted: it is re-read again once you top up.
How are charts billed?
A chart from a query costs the search it needs (its mode, per query) plus $0.50 per 1,000 charts: $1.50 per 1,000 with ultra, $1.90 with fast. From your own data, $0.30 per 1,000. Embeds, images, type or theme changes and repeats within 10 minutes are free, and a chart that fails is not billed.
